General
This is a dummy load. This device developed to test your power sources, battery, supply circuit, power bank etc. You can set constant current level with built-in potentiometer or analog input voltage. You can read actual current value with multimeter or Arduino like development board. Only read analog voltage and convert to current with our examples on github.Features and Specifications
- The best price/performance!
- Up to 3 A constant current.
- BTS117 smart power switch used. It has lots of protection.
- Easy to use. You can use it as soon as you get the product.
- Robust and stable.
- Arduino or other development boards are friendly! You can use it together, more powerful. Examples are available on GitHub.
- Suitable for robust mounting and it is stackable!
- All options will be sent assembled.
Jumper Details
JP1
- 1connect2: Potentiometer control (default)
- 2connect3: External analog signal control
JP2
- 1connect2: Supply with 5V (default)
- 2connect3: Supply with up than 6V to 20V
Applications
You can use PLB for a dummy load. You can directly test your power sources(battery, USB charger, solar panel, hydrogen fuel cells, etc.).
Besides you can use PLB to flow constant current on LED, dc motor, coil, etc.
Quick Start
Potentiometer control Arduino read
Download a simple read current example from GitHub and upload your board. Connect power pins (VCC(5V), GND from Arduino) and signal pin (Current) to Arduino (A0) Set the potentiometer to zero current (clockwise) Connect your load Turn the potentiometer and see the increase! This is it! You can test your load!
Current calculation algorithm
You can get the current calculation algorithm from github gist page.
Extended Features for Professionals
- PLB is a hackable dummy load. You can edit components for wanted ratings. We prepared some utility tools for you!
- In this sheet helps you to hack! To change current ratings you need to change Rsense, Ri, Rf, and MOSFET. You need to set the maximum current level to 3V.
- You can freely edit this device for more or less power ratings. About the dummy load, you can do whatever you want!
The current reading starts from 80mA.
